Futokazu Frank Sakino passed away peacefully at the age of 89. Born in San Pedro, CA, he moved to Wakayama, Japan in his early years and has resided in Monterey for the past 70 years. Frank worked as a forester for Del Monte Properties for over 40 years and could climb the tallest trees. He had a passion for gardening for friends and family as well as dedicating his Saturdays tending the grounds at the Monterey Peninsula Buddhist Temple. Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, in 2004. He is survived by his children, Ronald (Lorraine), Irene (Dave) and John (Jane) and his grandchildren, Kelly, Dane, Reid and Kylie.

Seizo Hashimoto beloved husband of Joy Sumiko, passed away after a long illness on Dec. 28, 2009 at the age of 83. He also leaves behind two children, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Seizo was born in Isleton, Calif. and was in the MIS Division of the U.S. Army during World War II. He graduated from Columbia University. He was married for 55 years to the love of his life.

Akira (Al) Abe, resident of Oakland, passed away peacefully on Dec. 1 at the age of 90. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Kiyoko Florence Abe. Devoted father of Vivian (Michael) Ikeda, Kenneth (Polly) Abe, and Steven (Karen) Abe; and Gichan to Colin Ikeda, Marc Ikeda and Kira Abe. Proud Veteran of World War II.

Wakako Shimazu, 95, passed away Nov. 1 in Sacramento. She was born on June 14, 1914 in Waipahu, Oahu, Hawaii. She married Seiji Shimazu and had two children Fumiye and Paul. In 1942 they were interned in Tule Lake Relocation Center. They returned to Hood, Calif. in 1945 and moved to Sacramento in 1949. She enjoyed gardening and participating in the Fujinkai, Bocho Doshi Kai, the South Sacramento Tanoshimi Kai, and the South Sacramento Friendship Club. She enjoyed outings with Fumi and Keiji and seeing her grandchildren (Ella, Lorenzo, and Ryan). Wakako was predeceased by her husband Seiji (1941) and her son Paul of Sacramento (1988). She is survived by her daughter Fumiye (Keiji) Takagi, her daughter-in-law Lily Shimazu, her grandchildren Stephanie Shimazu (Brian Carey) and Melanie Shimazu (Ron Leu), her great-grandchildren Ella and Lorenzo Carey and Ryan Leu.
